Katie Wells – Art Upfront – ABUNDANT CHOICE

Katie Wells’ new exhibition is opening on Thursday the 19 January at 6.30pm at the local hangout – The Upfront Club. Admission is free, so you could book a table for dinner a little earlier to get a good seat.

Katie’s new exhibition is entitled Abundant Choice, which is inspired by the abundance of inspiration that can be found around the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

These four paintings, plus seven more will be available for sale on the night or if you are interested before of after the exhibition, please send us an email or call us, see our Contact Page.

ABUNDANCE:

The green jug and flowers are created from the sheets of special paper used as my pallet when painting other artworks. Forms and designs are arranged in a pictorial fashion. It is a slow and messy process however I enjoy the challenge and the results are bright, unique, original artworks.

BAD ATTITUED-MAGPIES:
A big bird feeder hangs under a beautiful tree in our garden. The magpies visit regularly and their attitude of not sharing, knocking the bowl to the ground and taking ownership is just one amusing instance that this painting conveys.

MATRIACH & CLIMING HIGH – BLACK & WHITE TREES: (There is a series of painting depicting white trees, the trees symbolize people)

MATRIACH:

Matriach is the Lady Head of the family and here she proudly sits giving guidance and watching over the younger people as they flourish & try to achieve in their lifetime.

CLIMBING HIGH:

Here we have the challenge for people who aspire to get to the top in their profession. Some have gone before and shown the way others have faded away. Everyone has their turn.
(The delicate markings on the edges of the foliage are a nod to Australian Aboriginal mark making- this is my appreciation of their skill incorporated into these original artworks.)
